  • Carolina Hemlocks (Hwy 80) swimming, tubing, and trails on the South Toe River--our favorite!
  • Roaring Fork Falls (South Toe River Road to Busick Work Center Road, park near fence at end of road)
  • Set Rock Creek Falls (in the campground)
  • Crabtree Falls (Blue Ridge Parkway--North from Hwy 80) one mile out and back trail or approx. 3 mile loop trail, gift shop
  • Spruce Pine (Hwy 80 N; right onto 19E; follow signs to downtown) OR (226 off of the Parkway in Spruce Pine like you're going to Wal-Mart, but continue on 226, turn left on 19E, follow signs for downtown Spruce Pine) park, walking bridge over river and train tracks, DT's Java has coffee, sandwiches, chocolates, & ice cream!, etc. This website has a great section for local webcams.
  • Burnsville (Hwy 80 N; left onto 19E) town square, Bantam Chef has great milkshakes!
  • Mt. Mitchell (Blue Ridge Parkway--South from Hwy 80, follow signs) highest peak east of the Mississippi! trails, viewing platform, museum, gift shop
  • Hwy 80 Parkway Bridge (the stone Parkway bridge you go under when you exit the Blue Ridge Parkway onto Hwy 80 N) we'll have to show you why this is a great stop!
